Shine Art Center - Miss Sierra and her Dancers

As with countless other small businesses, Covid-19 has, and will continue to have devastating effects on Shine Art Center.

Sierra accepted the position of director in June 2018. In this short period, she has already surpassed expectations in her creativity, talent and dedication to her students and their families; she has devoted herself entirely to this pursuit, putting her whole heart into her work. Needless to say, the current situation has been crushing. More than anything,  Sierra wants to be able to continue sharing her love of the arts with children in our community. We need help in order to ensure this will happen.

Shine Art Center has always been committed to providing affordable, low-cost programs that are accessible to all members of our community. We provide reduced tuition to a large percentage of students in addition to scholarships for families in need; we do not receive outside funding so these discounts are absorbed by Shine. Because our mission is serving our community, our operating margins have always run thin. Closures due to the pandemic will be difficult to overcome but we're determined to navigate solutions so Sierra can continue to do this work she loves.

100% of your donation will go toward sustaining Sierra as she works to create online opportunities during the pandemic in addition to helping Shine Youth Fund obtain and renovate a new space for classes in the fall. We will almost surely not be able to maintain the high costs of our current tenant space through the summer months due to the cancellation of spring sessions. However, we are determined to re-open in September in a more sustainable location where Sierra will continue to offer engaging, creative and meaningful, low-cost programs in the arts for children in our community.
