Help me help Brian Shifrin and his family!
Brian turns 43 on Tuesday, May 28th, and I have dreamed up a fun fundraising idea themed about his birthday and turning 43!
The Shifrin Family are huge Boston sports fans and if they aren't watching one of their favorite Boston teaming playings, they are watching their kids play hockey, soccer and basketball.
If you didn't know, Brian has been married to the love of his life Kristine for 15 years and they have two awesome kids, Charlie 12 and Courtney 10. He was busy lawyer and beloved little league baseball coach when his life changed forever.
Brian was diagnosed with ALS at the end of 2017. When he was diagnosed he decided to continue fulfilling his dreams and ran and won the local election to be a selectman in the town he loves. The family traveled while they were able to.
Brian and Kristine have always volunteered their time in the schools, town and helped anyone that needed help. Brian always made sure no that every kid he coached played loved baseball and felt special. A year ago he coached Charlie’s little league team in Cooperstown. He was getting sicker but stayed in barracks with the kids as they played on the Field of Dreams. He invited every kid not just the All-stars that wanted to play....no child left behind! When the tournament was over Brian did not want to leave because he knew his life was going to change quickly.
ALS has changed so much for this special family. They have been honest with their kids and shared their story early on. They have inspired so many with their grace and love and fight! Brian has had close his law office because he can no longer talk or walk. He can no longer be a selectman. He is trapped in a body that no longer works. He needs help with eating, bathing, eating, dressing and just about everything.
ALS is a cruel unrelenting disease and the average life expectancy is 2-5 years.
Most families go bankrupt paying for the enormous bills associated with caring for a family member with ALS. Brian has a caregiver many hours a day to get him through his daily routine while Kristine continues work to pay their bills and to show their kids that you can’t give up no matter what life throws at you. As Brian’s needs continue to grow they have needed to make extensive renovations to their home. Please help support this amazing family with the ongoing needs Brian has and will continue to have.
Currently the Shifrin's monthly out of pocket expenses for his needs are approximately $8000-$10,000 and climbing as his needs increase!
