She Should Run Encourages Leadership Skills

Tax deductible
She Should Run believes that, if we want girls to believe they can become anything they want—including elected officials—then we need to work much more diligently to help them envision that future for themselves. We can do this by providing the ongoing support and inspiration girls need to travel their own, unique pathways toward achieving their dreams.

She Should Run is a nonpartisan nonprofit promoting women’s leadership and working to close the political ambition gap by inspiring multigenerational conversations between girls and the adults that care about them so that every girl can see her own place in elected leadership.

The funds raised from this campaign will be used to build a dynamic curriculum specifically designed for adults to talk about and practice leadership activities with girls. The funds will allow for our ability to effectively distribute the curriculum to an audience of individuals with young girls in their lives. Additional funds will allow us to scale the outreach of the program to reach a wider audience.

This enriched She Should Run curriculum will allow each girl to:

- Explore her interest and curiosity in politics and public service
- Develop her skills to take risks, overcome fear and believe in herself
- Discover her innate leadership qualities and learn to proactively lead in her life

Girls have opportunities every day to stand up for what they believe in, to be there for those who need help, and, most importantly, to believe in themselves. Join us in providing them with the support they need to get there! We believe that by priming leadership skills in girls and teaching them to stand up for what they believe in, that this will be impactful in helping girls #ClosetheDreamGap.

As a recipient of the Dream Gap Project Fund, She Should Run will customize a curriculum for adults to use as a resource with girls, that helps them imagine what's possible for their leadership in elected office via our course offerings. The funds will also go towards effectively distributing the curriculum to a wide audience of individuals with young girls in their lives. This will influence at least 2,500 young girls between the ages of 5 -12 to take action toward developing her political leadership.

WHAT IS THE DREAM GAP

Recent research shows starting at age 5, many girls begin to develop limiting self-beliefs. They stop believing their gender can do or be anything. This critical time in girls’ development when they begin losing confidence, is called the Dream Gap. The Dream Gap creates barriers for girls to reach their full potential, which can negatively affect and inhibit their future trajectory or career choices.

THE DREAM GAP PROJECT FUND

Barbie established the Dream Gap Project Fund with $250K in March 2019 to fuel efforts to close the Dream Gap. This fall, Barbie is teaming up with GoFundMe to invite everyone to help close the Dream Gap. No matter how big or small a donation, every bit counts. Your support will go towards leveling the playing field for girls, by providing tools, resources, and support to organizations on the ground working to change the lives of girls around the world.
