Sherpa college fund

Dawa Sherpa and his family live in one of the poorest cities in the world, Kathmandu, Nepal.  Dawa has a life-changing opportunity to help his family break out of the poverty cycle but needs our help to do so.   Dawa has just been accepted into college, an amazing achievement by a poor young man living in difficult circumstances.

Nepal was hit hard by two natural disasters;  a blizzard in 2014 and an earthquake in 2015.   These events devastated Kathmandu and villages in the hills making it impossible for Dawa’s father, Rinji Sherpa, to continue his trade of leading trekking parties to the mountains.   Even now, trekking jobs are scarce due to major losses of facilities for hikers.  Dawa’s family is surviving and working hard running a tiny restaurant in Kathmandu.  But this is poverty level living.

Against all odds, Dawa continued to study in school and has been accepted to Prime College, Nayabazar, Khushibu Development Area, Kathmandu, Nepal.  This is the first IT college in Nepal and specializes in computer sciences and business studies.

However, yearly tuition is close to $900, an impossible sum for his family.  He needs tuition and living expenses.  Let’s help Dawa Sherpa rise from the rubble of Kathmandu.
