TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM!!

Hello! My name is Shelby Swindell and I am a third-grade teacher at Riverwood Elementary School. The past 2 years my school had a grant that allowed each classroom to have their own set of laptop carts, a laptop for each student in the class. That has now come to an end. My students will no longer have the opportunity to use technology to work on research projects, Accelerated Reader, math review/practice, and reading assignments on a daily basis. Having technology in the classroom gave me the chance to see immediately how my students were doing on a certain skill, I was best able to help them grow that way.
I have just purchased 6 amazon fire tablets myself and would like to get 16 more to make a complete class set of 22. I know that this is a very large goal and I would be very thankful to get enough for a half class set. With 6 more tablets, my students can still work in pairs using the tablets. Each tablet cost $80, a case $13, and a 3-year insurance plan $20. The insurance plan will replace the tablet up to 3 times, which if you are working with 20 something 8-9-year-olds that is a great investment. Ha!
My favorite part of teaching is getting to do amazing research projects and seeing my students enjoying learning because they are getting to research something that interest them. Technology in the classroom makes that possible.
