Shay’s COVID-19 Hospital Mask Appeal

Doctors and other medical staff, like my father, are going to be working against overwhelming odds in the coming weeks through the COVID-19 outbreak with minimal equipment to protect them.
This is a campaign to try to help all UK hospitals get supplies to help protect these heroes. Currently, healthcare workers, in some circumstances, are having to share masks with their colleagues between shifts as there are not enough to go around. These people are in the front line of this extremely contagious virus, without proper PPE protection as supplies worldwide are limited.

Shay's father is a doctor at a hospital in Bristol. Last week we learned that at his hospital, staff are working with minimal personal protective equipment. These are our front line heroes who are/will be in continuous contact with this virus, without proper protection.
As soon as medical staff begin to get sick, the number of civilian deaths are going to escalate tremendously. These are people with families, who are knowingly risking their lives to help us.
Since this is especially close to home for us (as Shay is extremely worried about her father), we put a private call-out on Facebook to friends asking if they could help out. In 12 hours, we raised enough funding to kit the entire hospital with branded PPE supplies: 800 face masks, anti-viral gloves, surgical masks, hazmat snoods, etc. They say that when everything we have sent is delivered, they will have enough equipment for all staff members.

Practically overnight, a community of friends came together and raised enough funds to kit out a small hospital. Think what a great difference that has made for the medical staff (and families) at this hospital. Imagine the fear of knowing they are on the front line for a contagious virus, without proper protection?
Now, not only is this hospital going to be protected, but we also had extra funding to begin sourcing supplies for Homerton Hospital, London. We have already made a new contact within Guy and St. Thomas Hospital, London, so now we can focus on those.
We will update this page when we become aware of hospitals that still need protective gear and what it is they are desperately in search of - this list is likely to change daily.

We are a group of event professional organizers with complex logistics experience, experienced in making things happen instantly. We are actively using our supply chain skills to buy up any protective equipment we find from places that the NHS does not have the resources to tap into - and get these sent to the hospitals that need them. Everything we source is being sent directly to a known person within hospitals - this way, we can directly learn what stock is urgent, what they will be running out of, but also that the supplies we are buying in have arrived safely.
We aim to keep everyone updated with photographs of these updates from hospitals.

Furthermore, if anyone is able to help with providing these supplies directly outside of this Go Fund Me, please let us know so that we can give you a list of what is needed and the addresses/contact names to send them. We are happy to use this funding to help you with costs such as postage.

In less than 12 hours, a group of friends managed to send out enough masks to kit out a small hospital, giving the medical team at least some kind of respiration protection against Covid-19. Imagine what a larger group of people could achieve? We're ready and able to do this for more hospitals, and get more PPE equipment to front line workers.

We still have time to get more protective gear to our NHS and private healthcare workers before the outbreak truly starts to peak.
