Shay's 2nd cancer battle

Beautiful 14 year old Shay is once again fighting leukemia.

She only finished her 2 and a half year treatment exactly a year ago. Her family are devastated to be back in this situation . Once again Shay and her mum Julie have relocated to Melbourne to be close to Royal Childrens Hospital for intensive treatment . They expect to be living there again for the first 6 to 9 months of treatment .

Covid restrictions mean that her brother Jayd isn’t allowed into the hospital so he can only wave to her from the park below . It’s more isolating than before This is very hard on both siblings as they are best mates . Only Julie and Shays dad Wayne are allowed in the hospital but Only one parent at a time in the room with her , No other visitors are allowed, even her mums fiancé , Damon whom she lives with can’t visit . Shay and her mum are currently in hospital for a month and are on a waiting list for accommodation that is hard to come by . Shay and her mum stayed at Ronald McDonald house last time but due to covid Jayd ,Damon or any visitors wouldn't be allowed in there. 

To make things even more difficult, the kitchen is closed as it’s communial so preparing healthy meals will be a problem . Covid restrictions also mean it’s harder to obtain food . Most of the places they used to visit are closed.

They are very grateful for the amazing life saving treatment that is available at RCH and very hopeful once again that Shay can beat this brutal disease .

The first treatment was very taxing on the family financially so any help would be greatly appreciated . As a community I know we all want to help in some way. Thank you everyone for your kind donations and messages . Due to internet issues at hospital Shays mum is unable to transfer or access money atm so has nominated her dad Graeme Keath to temporarily withdraw the money into his account for a couple of weeks . When Shay and her mum get out of hospital soon he will transfer the funds directly to them .
