I'm Shaun Fisher. In the month of May, I believe, I had a stroke. I've been working all year long, day and night shifts, plus studio time, producing different artists in the independent music arena of Orlando, Florida. Most of my work on the independent scene was gratis, in other words free. I was doing it to help support those in independent music. I found myself working 364 days last year, only to take one day off during hurricane Matthew when Disney closed.
Since I was the producer and main writer of the music, I had to perform the show and we were not able to find replacements very easily, although we did audition many talented people only to find that they just weren’t ready to fulfill the position.
Feeling quite ill at one point I thought about either getting a flu shot or going to see my primary care physician because I thought I was catching a cold and instead I consulted with an acupuncturist. When I went to get acupuncture that wasn’t such a good idea as it turned out because apparently one of the needles were infected and I received some type of infection from the acupuncture. At least this is what I think happened. While in the break room I pulled out one of the needles from my ear and stood up and I believe I had a stroke at that time where my balance and equilibrium went off to where I had an out of body experience.
I could not sleep for days and I began trying to sleep on the couch because when I was sitting up I could sleep better and of course I had to get some rest to go to work. I was trying to sleep but the only time I could sleep was on the couch sitting up because if I lay down fluid began rushing to my lungs and I would start to cough, which is the reason why I thought I had a flu or bronchitis.
From here I continued going to my primary care physician who later diagnosed me with a minor case of Bells Palsy and a minor case of Shingles, which as we later found out was a minor missed diagnosis.
One night I went to sleep on the couch and I slept so well the next morning I decided to go to Florida Hospital North. When I arrived at Florida Hospital North, they found a blood clot in my heart and removed it. While in the recovery room I had a heart attack and they did a scan and realized that not only were both my heart valves are bad, but they could not treat me at Florida Hospital North, so I had to be rushed to Florida Hospital South. When I arrived at Florida Hospital South they began doing treatments and realize that I was a very sick man and had I not come in when I did I would not have lived past two weeks. So basically I had two weeks to live if I did not stay in to the hospital. I stayed and they began doing all the procedures needed to fix me and to get me healthy. I had open heart surgery and here I am today alive four months later.
But for four months I did not work, which is why I am asking for your assistance because in four months, as you well know, those bills will add up and compile and pile up and they have for me and they still are piling up. And now I'm back in the hospital because yesterday I fainted from dehydration and hit my head. I have a mild concussion and I have to wait 2-3 weeks before I can go back to work so that my brain can heal. I pray that you are all doing well and that you’ll never have to go through what I have enjoyed this year on the medical physical level spiritually. It has been a growing experience, but physically is the toughest time that I’ve ever had in my entire life and I need help.
I need the funds as soon as possible because the bills are coming in fast and I would like to stay on top of them as my credit is going to go bad and I have loans from people and I'd like to pay back. I’d like to just be a man of my word as I have always been and take care of those who’re taking care of me. I have my 15-year-old who needs medication every month and I have my 9 year-old who needs to have his insurance.
These funds will help me and my loved ones because it will give us an opportunity to stay current with our financial situation and not have to lose our home or depend on disability to survive because I’m not disabled, I am ready and willing to go back to work, but I can’t at the moment because the doctor says I need to sit and rest for 2-3 weeks to let my brain heal. But after that I will be back at Discovery Conval to give you guys the best show you’ve ever seen in your entire lives.
Other ways that I could use help is if anyone is ever in the Oviedo area, let me know early if I have any errands to run sometime as I like to get out of the house. I don’t like to just be stuck there. Perhaps you could come by and pick me up or maybe just spend an hour or so with me; we can have lunch together.
My situation is urgent because as you well know the bills can sneak up on you if you’re not prepared. My dad used to teach me that proper planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance and I still to this day believe that 100%. So I’m always trying to be prepared for what’s to come. So I ask you if you could help me to be prepared and hopefully this is the last bout three strikes is there in one.
