Help Shari with Medical Complications

Due to illness and losing my position, my family and I need help with mounting medical and monthly bills. With one child in elementary school and one in college, my illness and being out of work has created an unexpected and serious financial burden that is too much for one income! I would choke on anything I ate or drank- including water  I hate to be the one asking for help when I am used to being able to help others in need, but we need your help. This story started over 40 years ago, when I was born at 24 weeks and weighed 1lb & 14 oz. I had a 95 % chance of not surviving the first night of my life, but one thing that helped me beat the odds was a feeding tube. That feeding tube wore a hole in my esophagus and I endured many hospital visits and surgeries to fix problems with my stomach that happened at 18 months old. The doctor had to take part of my stomach and wrap it around my esophagus. Forty years later, that surgery has completely come undone. I first started having problems in February 2018, when I would choke on anything I ate or drank- including water . My doctor did an endoscopy and stretched my esophagus and put me on a soft food diet. In the meantime, my Gastroenterologist scheduled me to meet with a surgeon. The surgeon scheduled a surgery for July 3rd to see what was going on. It turns out I had a hernia, my stomach was twisted with my liver, and it was pushed up into my diaphragm. The surgeon wanted to correct that and also re-do the fundoplication wrap from 40 years ago. But because of complications during the July surgery, they were not able to complete everything I need to have done. Over the last month, I have continued to have pain and nausea, and can’t eat solid foods. Because of complications that I had from the most recent surgery - and finding out that the nausea and vomiting I have is from Gastroparesis - I have had three ER visits and one hospital admission due to severe dehydration. I now need a third surgery in December to get a repair my fundoplication, put in a gastric pacemaker, and surgery on my stomach. Originally, I had only planned to be off work for three weeks without pay. EIGHT months later, I am still off work and, I have lost my position, and I am not eligible for FMLA. Between losing my income and the medical bills, we need to raise at least $7,000 Thank you so much for any support you can give us!
