Shantal's Fight Against Cancer

Most of you who read this will know our beautiful and courageous friend Shantal has been fighting an unwanted visitor that turned up less than a year ago and has completely turned her and her wonderful family’s world upside down.
Shantal and Dean with their two young children were happily settled living in Abu Dhabi where Dean works and where their two young children Luke and Ella attend school when Shantal was diagnosed with Cancer last year.
The last 11 months has seen Shantal and her family go through so much upheaval with surgery and treatments for Shantal both in South Africa over Christmas 2017 and the New Year and then a return to Abu Dhabi for further Chemotherapy and Radiation which finished in March. Sadly, the cancer had spread and more surgery and treatment were required and the very hard decision was made to relocate back to South Africa with the children in April to be with close family and for Shantel to start her second round of radiation and chemo. Not only were they leaving all their wonderful friends and their home that they had made, but Dean continues to work in Abu Dhabi and flies back home to SA when he can.
Shantal has been diagnosed with aggressive cancer which has sadly not responded to the last course of treatment, she was only last week staying that she was “standing at her crossroads and deciding which way she would go”, and she decided to travel to Parys near Johannesburg to start a rigorous new Immunotherapy Treatment which will continue over the next 4 weeks in the hope that this will reduce the tumors and relieve her of the pain too.
Shantal continues to show the most incredible mental and physical strength and her focus has always been to make sure her family, especially Luke and Ella were all ok and that their day to day lives continued as normally as possible, with play dates, starting new schools and having wonderful family time together.
I am hoping I can reach as many of Shantal’s family and friends who will be able to make a generous donation to support the family with childcare, continuing transport and medical costs too.
I know that Shantal and Dean thank you all from the bottom of their hearts for your continuous support, love and guidance always.
