Shannon Wichman's Memorial Fund

My name is Eric, Shannon's oldest brother. It is with immense sadness to report the tragic loss of Shannon who passed Saturday, February 5, 2023, at the age of 52.

On Friday, January 20, 2023, Shannon fell and broke both femurs. Once stabilized at a local hospital she was LifeLined to an Indianapolis hospital. If you knew Shannon, you know she was a fighter and fight she did. Over the next two weeks, she underwent 2 separate surgeries to repair both femurs. She was also being treated for pneumonia and developed an infection in the abdomen region. She was making improvements every day and hopes were high when they were able to take her off of the ventilator and sedatives on Thursday, February 2nd. but the cause of the infection in the abdomen was still a mystery. Saturday at 4 AM our parents were notified Shannon was going in for emergency bowel surgery to attempt to repair a twisted bowel, the apparent cause of the mystery infection. They found the cause of the infection too late and she never woke up from the surgery. Our parents were by her side, as they always have been, as she passed.

We are not a family that has ever been good at asking for help but we are asking for help to make Shannon's memorial as special as she was. All donations will go towards funeral expenses and headstone.
