Shannon Ruggles Cancer Journey
Shannon Ruggles was diagnosed with a rare form of Lymphoma T-cell Cancer in May of 2019. At that time the cancer was contained in the skin. Shannon began cancer treatments but unfortunately in January of 2020 the cancer had progressed and spread into his blood and lymph nodes. He was diagnosed with Sezary Syndrome. Since this time Shannon has been travelling back and forth to both Lethbridge and Calgary weekly for extensive Cancer treatments. Currently the cancer is too high in Shannons blood and he has been told in order for him to be able to try either a stem cell transplant or full body radiation treatments, it needs to be lowered. In order to do that he needs to have this super expensive medication that will lower the cancer in his blood. This medication is $18,000! And the cancer society will not cover any of the cost. There is a request in with a social worker to see if they can help cover some costs but nothing has been heard on that end yet. So we have set up this go fund me to help Shannon and Shelley get the funds needed to both purchase this medication and help with some travel and food costs as Shannon is constantly on the road. If Shannon is able to do the full body radiation he will have to travel to Hamilton, ON for treatments.
Shannon is one of the strongest people I know. Throughout this journey so far he has done nothing but fully trust in Gods timing and he is at peace with the Lord. A true testimony of faith. Besides prayer, please help in any way that you can so we can get Shannon started on this medication right away!
