Shanice’s Funeral

Hey there! Let me tell you a little back story of my dear friend Shanice, she was the most loveliest outgoing girl you would have ever met! She was always there for everyone no matter what she would always be the one friend you could approach for a chat as she would be so understanding. Shanice would light up the room with her positive energy always cracking jokes making everyone laugh. Since leaving school Shanice was very hardworking she was always working full time doing over time day in day out, she would never ask anyone for help. She adored her mother and brother she would always tell me fun stories of the memories they shared! Sometimes I would be jealous myself wishing I had such a laugh with my mum. However Early March 2021 she was diagnosed with a rare spine/brain cancer she was rushed to Cambridge for an emergency biopsy/surgery,spent a few weeks in hospital recovering from surgery and was given 6/12 months to live. She was only 20 years old still a young adult like Me! Her whole life was crushed by this cancer she had to stop doing everything she loved as it hit her harder than you would ever expect she was paralysed from the waist down but that still didn’t stop her! She learned how to use a wheelchair and was getting around pretty well but as time progressed shanices cancer was taking over her body more and more every day to where she was fully paralysed and only had ability to use her arms, she was on daily pain killers, barely talking always in so much pain as you could imagine it was the most terrifying thing she would have ever had to go through but she always kept a smile on her face and stayed strong Shanice didn’t like showing her emotions she would always pretended to be fine when we knew she was just throwing on a brave face! Shanice lived with her Mum and little brother she would rarely see her dad, her mother was her rock. Caroline( Shanice’s mum) was the one that cared for her day in day out sleepless nights just to make sure she would be there with her through her pain. She became her full time career as Shanice’s condition got worse to the point she could not be left alone as she was in that much agony. Shanice was not eating only drinking through a straw she got stick thin, she was receiving injections every 6 hours to help her calm the pain as you could imagine her mum would be so sleep deprived she would have nurses in and out her house every day and night to try and help Shanice with the pain. The condition was getting worse and worse from where it originally started at her spinal cord and had now developed into her brain.

Sadly Shanice passed away on the 4th of October 12 days before her 21st Birthday. As you could imagine any normal 20 year old would of now have been planning on having the best party of there life for there 21st Birthday with there friends and family however Shanice didn’t get to do none of that.

Me and Caroline( Shanice’s mum) would like to give Shanice the send off she deserves and I’m asking if you have anything you could spare please donate to help her mum cover the cost of a beautiful funeral that Shanice deserve. The funeral will be on the 21st of October 1.45pm if you personally knew shanice from school/work her family would love to welcome you to pay your respects to her. As you can imagine being a single mum to two kids is hard enough but having to bury you’re first child at just the age of 20 is the most heart breaking thing any parent could go through! Myself as a parent of two young babies can not imagine what she’s going through but I can only send my love and support to her and hope one day it will get easier.
