Shanae Clayton Foundation

Our sister, Shanae Clayton, was brutally murdered on Friday, April 24th, 2020. Shanae was shot twice by her boyfriend of 18 years, in Pontiac, Michigan. Shanae was a strong woman. She survived breast cancer and Covid19, but in the end, she lost her life to domestic violence.

Shanae suffered years of physical and verbal abuse from her alcoholic boyfriend, who was the father of her 2 youngest children. Over the years, we watched them break up and get back together-in hopes that one day, she could call it quits for good. Despite the fights and arguments, bruises and pain, Shanae continued to fight to keep her family together. Yes, she lived in fear, but was too afraid to try to get out. Her greatest fear was of him harming the kids. Shanae finally decided enough was enough. She wanted her boyfriend to leave. Despite the horrible experiences she had with this man throughout the years, Shanae still had a beautiful, caring soul. Even after the violent episodes she suffered through that week, Shanae still chose to show him kindness. She drove him to his brother's home and this is sadly when he chose to callously take her life. He shot her twice and then walked away.

Shanae would do whatever she could for the people she cared about. Above everything, she loved her children more than life itself. In the wake of this tragedy, Shanae leaves behind her 3 children and granddaughter. Her 2 teenagers, who now have no parents, are forced to live with the reality that their father killed their mother. This is one of the worst forms of trauma. As a family, we are coming together to take care of the kids; doing our best to love and provide for them so that we don't lose them to depression, suicide, or the streets. Now, more than ever, is the time that we show them what love is. They need to know that they have our support, love, and heart.

We are seeking help from our family and friends. We need donations to help provide stability and care for her grieving children. Sadly, their lives have now drastically changed forever. Our goal is to support their basic needs as they try to adjust to their new normal. They will be living with our youngest sister and we need to uplift and support her as she steps into a parental role. No one is ever ready for death, but now we have to come together to make sure our sister has what she needs to provide these babies. We know there is no way to replace Shanae and all the love she gave as a mother, but our family is united in loving one another. We will get through this and appreciate any help that comes our way. Thank you.
