Rebuild and relocate after COVID-19

My story is the same but COVID-19 has really taken a toll on the business. I expanded the business in, November of 2019, and now provide Wedding/event planning and mobile bar services in Delaware, Maryland, Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia and Middle Tennessee. However, when the pandemic hit the US and the northeast especially, we were forced to close and refund all events scheduled through the winter, spring and summer and currently I don't have anything scheduled for the fall. During this period we still maintained our month fees and memberships to event organizations, paid promotional, marketing, cleaning, staffing cost and office and maintence fees. Leadership are words that have formed my character and my life options. I graduated from Rutgers University with the BA in Early Childhood Education and proudly served 13 years in the US military. For 17 years, I served as a program coordinator for School Age Services for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and Director of the Y-CAP (the YMCA Community Action Project). Y-CAP is dedicated to serving at-risk youth in building values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Voluntarism was a key to my educational goals for the youths I served. They volunteered at the Animal Shelter, served meals at the Nashville Rescue Mission, conducted food and toy drives for distribution to families in need during the holiday season, and planted a community vegetable garden. My greatest excitement was exposing youth to the culinary world, visiting culinary schools, learning from and cooking with distinguished chefs, and, yes, eating at elegant restaurants where students were exposed to dining etiquette. That all changed. The job security and benefits I enjoyed were suddenly gone as many non-profits experienced downsizing. The inspiration of heart, mind, and spirit I once gave to youths, I needed most towards maintaining my household as a single father of two sons!  I had to model what my religious upbringing instilled in me: “Faith will make a way out of no way.” Closed doors opened opportunity for a new life venture. I had been a professional bartender and worked and planned many social events with great success and notoriety. So, why not take the risk of making this a new life plan? In 2015, I took the risk and established ShaBar’s Mobile Bar/ Bartending Services and Event Planning. Three words guide my business efforts: Elegant (tastefully refined and dignified), Classy (always appropriately suited to the customer’s needs, whether small or large), and Professional (un-surpassed in professional customer service).
