Save Arya's Mum

Hi 

I'm Shaazia, mum to 4.5  year old Arya Maryam. In June 2015 at the age of 41 I was diagnosed with advanced ovarian/cervical cancer. Oncologists remain uncertain as to the precise primary diagnosis. Unfortunately, the available NHS treatments for this type of cancer are lagging far behind the rest of world.

Thanks to very generous assistance from friends and the local community in July 2017 I was able to access the latest immunotherapy drugs  and early indications are that my body is responding well, albeit slowly. 

This life saving, groundbreaking medical treatment is offered  at the Hallwang Clinic in Germany where great success is being achieved with this particular type and stage of cancer. Immunotherapy is not currently offered by the NHS for gynaecological cancer and is unlikely to be available in the near future . It is imperative that I continue with this treatment. My doctors believe that it offers me the best chance of overcoming this disease and combined with individualised immunotherapy it has the potential to save my life. The therapy is expensive, as are all innovative medical treatments. However , the success rates are compelling. It will require having extensive genetic tumour tissue testing and then several rounds of treatment. Your contributions will enable me to access this medical treatment. Each round of treatment costs approximately £8000.

I have always been an independent person, however cancer has taught me that it challenges one on many more levels than just physically. I am working to heal body, mind and soul. Having to ask for help can feel uncomfortable but I have shifted my perception to accept that I deserve to reach out and ask for help, life is a precious gift and I believe that my life is worthy of being saved. Not just to be here and see my little girl grow up but also because I have so much that I have learnt that I wish to share with others, to help others in a similar position and give back all the love and help I continue to receive. 

Each new day with Arya is an immense blessing and I want nothing more than to be here with her, to be the mother she needs. I would love to be healthy enough to spend precious time with her bringing smiles, laughter and joy to her childhood.
