SGT. Michael J. Kelley school

Donation protected
In 2005, our son SGT. Michael J. Kelley was killed in action while serving on a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was 26 years old. Since his passing it has been our family mission to keep his memory alive. We have been very fortunate to have the Massachusetts Army National Guard to help us in that mission. Since Michael's passing we have attended many ceremonies honoring Michael.
One way his name was honored was in 2011. A school was built and dedicated to our son, SGT. Michael J. Kelley in the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan. Every year the attendance of the school has been increasing. They currently staff a Headmaster and 4 teachers for the 500+ children that attend the school! Of the 500 students, 370 are boys and 130 are girls! The school has 8 rooms!
The Kelley family has a contact that is able to visit the school multiple times a year to bring donated items the Kelley family collects with the help of various organizations including the Rotary Club of Scituate, MA. We have supplied school supplies, uniforms, toys, equipment to get their well water operating again, hats, coats, and mittens. They even were able to get a school yard with playground equipment!
After each visit, we receive updates of how the school is doing and which ways we can help. The most recent visit, we were informed of some roof damage, which caused water damage into the building. 2 of the 8 rooms are unusable.  We are looking to collect the funds to repair the roof and inside water damage so the school can keep thriving. It's another way to keep Michael's memory alive!
