Sewage Flood Disaster Relief for Sharon Lewis

Donation protected
On December 4, 2022 Sharon Lewis, a lifelong Hartford resident and environmental justice advocate experienced 73,000 gallons of sewage flooding her home.

The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC), an entity responsible for providing drinking water and sewage services to the Hartford area, did not come out to investigate the issue until January 12, 2023.

The City of Hartford ordered her to vacate the premises due to no heat, water, or electricity.

The flood has displaced Sharon from her home because it reeks of sewage yet the MDC refuses to accept responsibility to repair the damages that have destroyed their home. She's been staying in a hotel since December 4.

Please support Sharon in this challenging time. Sharon has dedicated her life to uplifting the racial and environmental injustices impacting people of color across Connecticut.

Donations are needed to help offset living expenses and the replacement of the mechanicals for her home. Donations of any amount are welcome and greatly appreciated.
