Jay Severin passed away suddenly on July 7, 2020. Jay was the host of “Extreme Games” on WTKK in Boston, MA, for many years, and subsequently worked for The Blaze. Jay brought his immense intellect and knowledge of politics and culture to the airwaves, earning him a huge and passionate fanbase. He leavened his passionately-held beliefs with warmth and humor. Before becoming a talk show host, he was a top campaign adviser, running campaigns throughout the world, including for three US presidents.
Jay loved The Beatles and Eric Clapton; skiing and kayaking; the Bruins; the novels of Tom Wolfe; his alma mater, Vassar College; and his many devoted fans. Most of all he loved his family — his mom and dad, his sister Denine and nephew Sam, his cherished daughter Jane Jefferson Severin, and wife Renee. Also his beloved “pack” — Newfoundlands Bruin, Abigail, Stanley, and Daisy; St. Bernard Hans; yellow lab Esja; Tucker the pug; and Coco, a mini-Dachshund.
Jay was being treated for three aggressive and malignant cancers this past year. After undergoing grueling radiation and chemo treatments for nine months, he was declared cancer-free just three weeks ago. Sadly, he died of a sudden and massive stroke on Tuesday, July 7.

This GoFundMe Campaign is not for Jay; however; it is for his heartbroken widow and daughter. After Jay left the airwaves six years ago, he became ill and had been unable to work since. His illness and subsequent care has left the family without any resources — they lost their home to foreclosure, and have no assets, nor insurance or retirement. The family was living on Jay’s social security, which with his death they no longer receive. The goal of this fund is to help ease the burden of his medical bills, assist Jane and Renee pay for housing, and to help with burial expenses.
Jay had a HUGE following of people who appreciated his honest candor and his ability to bring another perspective to modern politics. Please consider supporting Jay’s widow and daughter, Renee and Jane, as they navigate the coming months and years without a husband and father.
