Service Dog For Loretta

Donation protected
My name is Loretta Acker. I'm 36 years old and I have 5 children, all boys! 17, 15, 11, 12 and 10 years old. In 2012, I was at work when I started having a seizure. I was rushed to the local hospital where they soon realized I needed more specialized care. I was transported to a larger hospital. I spent a few days there being poked and prodded. I was diagnosed with a seizure disorder called PNES (Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures) My life totally changed after that. It became much harder and much more stressful. This year I was diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). You can learn more about PNES and it's connection to PTSD here.. https://www.epilepsy.com/article/2014/3/truth-about-psychogenic-nonepileptic-seizures

There is a lot of stigma around PNES. It's a psychological condition which makes people believe that the individual is faking their symptoms. That's just not the case! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCLSdCs6M7E&t=84s

I’m trying to raise enough money to help purchase a rescue dog/puppy and train it for service. By doing this I would be able to be more independent. It's uncomfortable and scary for me to be in public knowing that I could have a seizure at any moment. It's an unsafe situation. Not everyone knows what to do for me. I could be badly injured if a bystander tries to move me and there's a chance someone else could get hurt in the process. A seizure alert dog would give me my life back after 6 long years of living with PNES and PTSD.
