Leo, the Service Dog
Tax deductible
Leo is my 7 year old, Malamute service dog. We work for Gold Coast Veterans Foundation, delivering food to home-bound, low income veterans and doing outreach for homeless veterans.
Pictured above, Leo is about to receive a snack from a veteran that he regularly visits. Leo likes to meet new people and travel around and most importantly, people love to interact and connect with Leo. He has a way of touching their hearts. Pictured below, Leo meets a new friend at the laundromat.
Leo needs a surgery for a torn A.C.L on his back left leg. Leo is 160 pounds and is using only his back right leg to push himself up to a standing position.

Currently, he walks and gets in and out of our minivan with the help of a step-up platform or with my lifting him and can stand on his own. But he does limp and does his best not to put weight on his hurt leg.
Leo and I found a place to rent so that he can recover from his surgery. We are in a guest house in Ojai. Leo's surgery will be on September 17th, 2019 at the Ventura Medical and Surgical Group with Dr. Bruecker.
For the last year, I have been writing a column titled: "Veterans Connection" for the Acorn newspaper chronicling the work we do for Gold Coast Veterans Foundation. The article in the link is written from Leo's point of view.
