Service Dog for Asaph

Donation protected

Our autistic son Ace is in immediate need of an Autism Assistance Dog.

No amount is too small!

Asaph (or "Ace"!) has an official diagnosis of ASD with co-morbib ADHD and Epilepsy.

Ace daily exhibits troubling and sometimes dangerous behaviour due to his autism, including running into the street to chase birds and wandering off in crowded places including the supermarket and busy city streets. Asaph has suffered for years from extreme tantrums, insomnia and wandering the house late at night, severe mental breakdowns, screaming at the top of his lungs to get attention, physical violence against others including children (biting, poking, hitting, tackling, pinching, pulling hair, etc), and "stimming," or repeated physical actions such as clenching his fingers rigid or touching himself. And yet, when you place a puppy in his lap, he becomes a different child. He stops moving, he smiles, he gently strokes the dog and makes cooing noises. Our son transforms when he is with a dog.

Ace needs a service dog trained specifically to help with Ace's symptoms of autism. These highly trained dogs can do things such as provide deep pressure therapy, intervene during a meltdown, and help mitigate eloping. Miraculously, scientific research suggests that some dogs may release hormones that are lacking in autistic children, promoting calm and bonding.

The £10,00 goal is relatively cheap considering the $17-25,000 cost in the USA for a service dog. Our goal includes the £8k for the dog itself and all its training and accreditation, travel to and from the breeder, necessary equipment (crate, bowls, harness, etc), and pet insurance.

The funds are required as soon as possible in order to make a down payment and fund the dog's training. If you would like more information on the process and fees, please reach out and ask.

No amount is too small! If everybody who read this gave just a few dollars, we would make the fundraising goal in a few days.

Any funds received over the requested amount of £10,000 will be donated to other families also fundraising to receive an autism service dog.
