Serenitys medical

So everyone knows, Serenity was born with an Encephalocele. Had it removed at a day old & ended up staying in the NICU for 7 days . At 10 days old she got two infections (one being in the fluid around her brain). She had to get antibiotics for 4 weeks. She went home.

At two months old we took Miss Serenity to the ER for a bump she had on the back of her head. After sitting in the ER for 12 hours & getting an MRI, they found she developed Hydrocephalus which brain fluid build up around the brain. She ended up getting an emergency shunt placed in her head to drain the excess fluid into her abdomen. We got discharged soon after.

At 8 months old, after a routine MRI of Serenity's head, her neurosurgeon saw she has stage 1 of Chiari Malformation. It hasn't progressed so far.

In June of 2020, Serenity stopped eating. Stopped drinking a bottle & refused purees. She was in the hospital for a week as they tried to figure out what was going on. They couldn't. She was sent home with an NG Tube.

October 2020, her doctor referred her to have a G-Tube placed in her stomach. 

On November 19th, Serenity had surgery on her head to place distractors on her skull to try to expand her skull because her skull has been fusing together to fast. After a 4 hours of surgery, her neurosurgeon & plastic surgeon came out to tell us she did amazing as always BUT her shunt catheter that goes to her brain was clogged which means her extra brain fluid wasn't draining. She unclogged it & fixed it.

Yesterday, while in her room, one of her incisions started leaking fluid. Her nurse told her neurosurgeon so her neurosurgeon went to take a look. She thought her shunt broke & was certain it was brain fluid. So she wanted to do an emergency shunt surgery. 

This morning she went into emergency surgery to fix her shunt. After 4 hours, her neurosurgeon found her shunt wasn't working again but also, part of the tissue under her skull where one of her distractors are placed had a tear meaning brain fluid was leaking out. The place it found was through her incision. So the placed a lumbar drain to drain the fluid leaking. Hopefully the tear will heal itself but only time will tell. As of tonight, she's sleeping & resting. ❤

Louis is going to be off work as long as Serenitys in the hospital & they're thinking she's going to be in there for at LEAST a week if not longer. Louis works full time as I take care of Serenity & my other girls full time. Serenity turns two in two weeks & we're not even sure how her birthday is going to go at this point. If anyone can help with a couple bucks, we'd be forever grateful it's going to be extra stressful with the hospital stay, her birthday, & even the holidays. & thank you in advance.
