Serene’s Rehabilitation Fund

Sunday February 13th my little sister (Serene) was on her way back from purchasing some valentines for her classmates for Valentine’s Day. While crossing the street, she was struck by speeding vehicle. She was sent flying by the car, the driver stopped, reversed, and sped off. She was rushed to the hospital In critical condition with a very serious brain injury. Her first night at Cheo, the doctors were uncertain if she was going to make it through the night. She required an emergency surgery on her brain in an attempt to save her life. After hours of anxiously waiting, The surgeons were successful, and were able to allow the brain to swell without excessive pressure. When I saw my baby sister lying on the hospital bed seemingly lifeless, hardly recognizable from the cuts and bruises and swelling in her face, my life was changed then and there. Serene has been in an induced coma since Sunday to allow her little brain to recover and heal. She is on her way to recovering, but the road is long, scary and uncertain. We pray everyday and night that when she is able to finally wake up that her brain will be back to the way it was.
