Support Sepik Pride Rugby League Bid for 2021

This is a journey and a dream to finally put through a Bid for the Sepik Rugby League Franchise in the Papua New Guinea (PNG) NRL, Digicel Cup. Rugby League is a national sport in PNG and team of young like-minded individuals in Wewak and Port Moresby have been working tirelessly since July 2020 to ensure the bid is successful when it is due for review in mid November 2020. As a way forward to bring East and West Sepik together to build the Greater Sepik Region in PNG, Rugby League can be seen as developing the human resources through the sport and for contributing back into society in a meaningfully way and developing the Country. One of the key requirements is to have a home ground and on 29th July 2020 with some support from the Provincial Government, we began constructing grand stands, seats and toilet facilities on Pora Oval in the Province to meet some of the requirements by the PNG NRL Board. Our budget to register a team and have a financial guarantee with the PNG NRL requirements, is to have PGK 400,000 in order to successfully manage the franchise with other fundraising activities supporting the team.  On 17 October 2020, we will have our fundraising corporate dinner at Gateway Hotel, Port Moresby, however we can only cater for 300 heads due to the Covid-19 Pandemic Response. We have not received any major funding from our Provincial / National Government or corporate financial support but have met with Sepik Rugby League Greats, such as John Pius Wagambie Snr, Richard Wagambie, Robert Jakis, Arnold Krewanty and Nigel Hukula to seek some technical advice and kick start our fundraising. 70% of key players will be selected from existing rugby league associations in the region which include Wewak, Maprik and Vanimo Rugby League Competitions in the Greater Sepik Region.
