Hello World, Family, Friends, and Friends of Friends:

My name is Randee Shields.  Over the last five years, I have been blessed to get to know a beautiful woman named Natalee Mossing as both a coworker and friend.  She is the mother to an incredibly talented 13 year old boy, Zach, and a happy go lucky 11 year daughter, Maddie, with special needs.  She also has a special bond with her 22 year old step-daughter.   If there has ever been the a woman to be considered a Super Mom, Natalee is that woman!  This was tested and proved even more when three years ago she found herself as a single mom struggling to cope with a divorce.  Although, divorce is tough for anyone, having a child with such a unique special needs case as Maddie can make it extra challenging.  I can tell you first hand though that when Natalee promised she would minimize the impact of divorce on her three children, she kept and exceeded that promise.  I have watched her rotate a crazy schedule full of doctor’s appointments for both herself and Maddie, therapy sessions for Maddie, and practices, games and tournaments for the athletically gifted Zach, all while maintaining a full time job.  She has continued to support Ashley as a mom as well.  She has held her head high and sacrificed so much to ensure that her kids are provided for.  Money and time stretch thin but she always manages to pull it together.  As a single mom to a special needs child, I would think it would be a challenge to ensure that the other child gets acknowledged and recognized but not for Natalee.

A particular example of her dedication can be found in her love for Zach.   Zach’s is truly a capable soccer player and has a dream to play high school soccer, college soccer, one day play professionally. He is such a dedicated player and has a wonderful competitive spirit. He was on soccer club that he loved and the changes in their lives threatened to take that away.  Natalee was determined to find the means though.  When it became an expense she couldn’t afford she applied for financial assistance from the club which meant having to volunteer extra hours to the soccer club.

This past summer Zach attended a soccer camp in Cincinnati (this was his 13th birthday present).  Zach thrived at the camp and his talent did not go unnoticed.  Zach was extended a rare invitation to a prestigious soccer tournament called The 2018 Donosti Cup in Spain, which will take place next summer, June 28-July 9, 2018.  This trip will include 8 days of trainings and games in Spain. He will meet players from 26 different countries and play against some of the most renowned teams from around the world.  It is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.  However, this opportunity does have a cost.  Natalee and Zach will need to pay $4,500 (this includes his player package, flight, hotel, and a US passport).   There is an additional fee of $3,500 dollars for Natalee to be able to accompany him.  This is a large sum of money for most families but even more so given their situation.  In true Natalee fashion, she came up with a plan to help Zach achieve this dream (told you she was a Super Mom).  Zach has been working odd and end jobs around the neighborhood and making buckeyes to sale to help fundraise.  He does all of this between keeping up great grades in school, attending practices and games, and assisting with the care of Maddie and her service dog (Super Moms raise Super Kids).

This family is incredibly resilient. I would ask you all to please consider donating if you can to this kid as he works to attend this camp.  They would never expect a hand out and I know Zach is going to work really hard to raise the money. I also see he has a long road ahead of him and would love to see his community rally behind him and help him achieve this.  He needs all the love and support he can get!  Any monetary donations would be appreciated.  If you prefer to donate with a check or cash, please let me know and I can make arrangements to receive your kind donation.

Please feel free to spread the word by sharing this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating too!
