Send Jenelle to the University of San Francisco!

If you don’t know me, my name is Jenelle and I’m a multi-disciplined creative from Portland, OR.  Having experienced my Gap Year out of high school as a professional dancer and marketing intern for BodyVox Dance Company and DarVejon Jones Dance Ensemble, I am currently preparing for a big move to NorCal, where the next chapter of my life awaits at the University of San Francisco! This August, I’ll be attending USF on a Presidential Scholarship to pursue a BBA in Marketing… and hopefully a minor in Design, if money allows. In addition to going to college in SF, I plan on expanding my dance network by continuing to train and meet new dancers in the Bay Area. I’m especially looking forward to this as I’ve been in love with the SF dance scene since attending the 2015 summer intensive San Francisco Conservatory of Dance.

To keep it short, I’ve spent the last few months in survival mode: in late May I had to suddenly move out of the house and now am paying for college on my own. After being unemployed for more than 3 months due to the crippling effects of the global pandemic, I’ve been hustling more than ever to get my future together. It’s been daunting, but knowing the strength I possess and the persistence I have towards achieving my goals, I believe that this experience has and will continue to teach me a lot more about myself and what I can achieve. While applying to outside scholarships, selling my clothes, and tirelessly contacting the USF Financial Aid Office to help me with a Financial Aid Appeal, I’ve punched out the numbers to see that I need help filling the gaps of my finances this year.

For the sake of transparency, I’ve included my finance sheet detailing my tuition payment plan and life expenses in San Francisco. Take a look:

My goal: to cover the cost of my tuition so I can focus on my life expenses while in SF. These include groceries, transportation, laundry, going out with friends, and most importantly, rent (the dorms at USF are a big expense that I decided to minimize by living with some classmates in an apartment nearby).

With this GoFundMe page, I am currently seeking a donor (or donors) who would be kind and generous enough to help me finance my first year in San Francisco amid the untimely circumstances that have occurred in my life recently. With your help, my dreams of living and attending college in the Bay Area will finally turn into a reality!
