Send Steven to Seattle for Colon Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends and Beloved,

I pray this message comes to you at a time where you can open your heart and read Steven's story in its entirety. I plead with you to remain connected to these words as I write them.

My name is Stephanie and I am starting this campaign for Michelle Smith, on behalf of her husband Steven Smith, who has been battling Stage 3 Colon Cancer since 2017.

Before I get into the details of Steven's current condition and his needs, I feel it's best to mention that the Smith family is immediately packing a bag of clothes and making plans to fly to Seattle, as of this morning, April 20, 2019.  They are not relocating, just traveling for the treatments alone.  Time is of the essence, not only for his medical needs but the finances that will make his treatment even possible.

Steven has been unable to return to work since being diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer in 2017.  In March 2018, he underwent surgery to remove the cancer, which was eventually cleared by biopsy.

However, the news of his cancer's return came just seven short months later, in October 2018, and it has been back with a vengeance.

In November 2018, he suffered a small bowel obstruction so the plans for chemo had to be put on hold until his wounds healed.  The obstruction has caused Steven to be severely malnourished which has prevented his body to be strong and healthy enough to start chemo.  He has been in and out of the hospital since 2017, with many chronic setbacks such as kidney stones, multiple stents, sepsis, and infections in various places without any resolve.

As of April 2019, his wounds in his bowels are still present which puts him in constant need of blood transfusions and TPN.  Steven is in desperate and urgent need of therapies in Seattle, which will help him recover enough for chemo, with the eventual plan of surgery to remove the cancer.  BUT, we need your help to assist him to get to a healthy start before the journey of chemo and surgery begins.

Through all of this, Michelle has been such a light and strength for the benefit of her husband and their three beautiful children.  She continuously and without fail homeschools the children, all while being Steven's caregiver and aid when he is home.  As you can imagine, this is a very heavy burden for Steven and Michelle to carry, both physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

Steven and Michelle would be forever grateful for your continuous prayers for healing, recovery and for the Lord's provision. If you feel led to give monetarily to help with the Seattle treatment, they would be so very blessed.  It is very costly for the planned treatments and Steven would benefit the most by being there for as long as needed, which is unknown at this time.

Your generous gifts would help to pay the Seattle therapies and treatments, home health, TPN, medicines and all details and accommodations to survive away from home without any family or friends.

Blessings to you all and thank you for considering helping my dear friends, The Smith Family.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Sofka
