Sending Bol back to school

Please meet Bol.
Bol is a South Sudanese, who was an asylum seeker in Israel for 5 years. During this time he got deep into our hearts.
Bol fled Sudan at an early age, had to move from one place to another, and only felt safe after he reached Israel. For a long time he was the head of the Nuer community, and assisted his community in Israel, and especially in Arad. He was a devoted employee in a Dead Sea hotel, always looking for a chance to learn and grow.
In the summer of 2012 Bol was deported to South Sudan. He left with his head held high with the hope of a new beginning in a new country. He left with his head hung low because he had to part with friends and family he made while in Israel.
In South Sudan Bol suffered from typhoid, malaria and malnutrition, and from lack of proper medical services. Notwithstanding the hardships and thanks to Bol's extraordinary interpersonal skills, and with the help of several angels from Israel, Bol found a job in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, and allowed himself to continue dreaming.
South Sudan has been unstable ever since its independence. In the past six month the violence escalated - Bol's home was burnt down, several of his friends were killed in the fighting, he lost contact with his family and hid for weeks in the UN compound.
In January 2014, with the help of donations from his Israeli friends, we managed to bring Bol to Kenya. Bol's life was saved. But ever since he left South Sudan, he's been haunted by the thought of getting back to the life of a refugee, with no solid ground, no support and in constant uncertainty.
A couple of days ago Bol called me, excited and begging for help - he managed to overcome bureaucracy and the lack of formal status, and got an opening to go back to school - he wants to study in a course for community development - 6 semesters which will grant him a diploma - an initial boost for success and increasing his chances of being economically independent while helping his peers.

The overall cost of registration, paperwork, the studies and expenses is $1,500. This sum will help Bol feel worthy once again.
In the long run, this small amount will help Bol change the world - and believe me - he can do it!

Bol is an intelligent, bright, kind, caring, dedicated, funny and lovable young man. When he sent me his photo - his face was serious and grave. I asked him to send a smiling photo, so we can all remember his lovely smile. I got a few more tries. This was his best. He told me that he's forgotten how to smile.

בול הוא פליט דרום סודני שהיה בישראל קרוב לחמש שנים, בזמן הזה הוא הספיק להיכנס לנו עמוק עמוק ללב.
הוא ברח מסודן בגיל צעיר, נאלץ לנוע ממקום למקום, כשהגיע לישראל הרגיש בטוח. תקופה ארוכה שימש כמנהיג של קבוצת הנואר וסיייע רבות לבני הקהילה שלו בישראל ובערד בפרט. עבד במסירות במלונות ים המלח ותמיד חיפש עוד ועוד הזדמנויות ללמוד ולהתפתח.
בקיץ 2012 גורש לדרום סודן, עזב בראש מורם ועם תקווה להתחלה חדשה במדינה חדשה, עזב בראש מורכן כי נפרד מחברים ומשפחה שהכיר ויצר.
הוא חלה בטיפוס, כולירה, מלריה וסבל מתזונה לקויה והיעדר שירותי רפואיים הולמים. למרות כל הקשיים והודות ליחסי האנוש שלו ובזכות מלאכים ומלאכיות מישראל הוא מצא עבודה בג'ובה, בירתה של דרום סודן והרשה לעצמו לחזור לחלום.
מאז הקמתה סבלה דרום סודן מחוסר יציבות, בחצי שנה האחרונה האלימות החריפה והחמירה- ביתו של בול נשרף, שניים מחבריו נהרגו בקרבות המיותרים הללו, הקשר עם משפחתו נותק והוא הסתתר שבועות ארוכים במתחם האו"ם.
בינואר, בזכות תרומות מאנשים יקרים, הצלחנו לחלץ אותו משם ולהבריח אותו לקניה. פשוטו כמשמעו- חייו של בול ניצלו. מאז ברח, הדבר הקשה ביותר היתה יהמחשבה על חזרה למעגל חיי פליטות, ללא קרקע יציבה, ללא מעגלי תמיכה ובחוסר ודאות מתמיד.
לפני יומיים התקשר נרגש ומתחנן לעזרה- עם כל מסכת הביורוקרטיה והיעדר המעמד הצליח לקבל אישור ללמוד. קורס של פיתוח קהילתי- 6 סמסטרים, תעודת גמר--> מנוף ראשוני להצלחה והגדלת הסיכוי לעצמאות כלכלית.
העלות הכוללת של הדמי רישום, מסמכים נדרשים, הקורס עצמו והוצאות נלוות עומד על 1,500$, סכום שיעזור לו לשוב ולהרגיש בן אדם בעל ערך.

בול הוא בחור אינטיליגנט, שנון, טוב לב, אכפתי, מסור, ובעיקר מצחיק ושובה לבבות. כששלח תמונה שלו הפרצוף שלו היה נוקשה ורציני, ביקשתי שישלח תמונה מחוייכת- שנוכל להיזכר בבבול עם המבט הכובש והחיוך השובב. קיבלתי עוד כמה ניסיונות, זה היה הכי מוצלח הוא כתב לי שהוא שכח איך מחייכים.
