My name is Wilnisha Sutton, also known as TRU7H (Truth). I am a Vocalist, Activist, and a Motivational Speaker, but my greatest accomplishment is being a mother.

Even though I am a single mother, I receive support from my family and my tribe, along with my amazing Sun (son). Unfortunately, my fixed income and my passion for fighting community injustices does not allow me to experience some things I know I deserve. I give a lot of myself to my family, friends and my commUNITY without expecting anything in return, so doing this fundraiser is humbling because I rarely ask for help. I have recently been given the opportunity of a lifetime that I definitely don’t want to miss, so now I am turning to you all to help do something for me. I KNOW me going to Africa will help me gain a better sense of self and will make me a better person, mother, family member, and community orgainzer.

With that being said, I HAVE AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO AFRICA, GHANA TO BE EXACT!!!

I will be apart of a program called “Sankofa Quest” which is a educational, cultural and an all around life changing opportunity. Sankofa Quest gives African Americans the opportunity to travel to Africa (and other places around the world) to gain a better understanding of ones whole-self. The program helps Black Americans gain a sense of belongingness and freedom by allowing them to divulge into traditional practices. We often feel lost because we don't feel we belong anywhere. We often feel like we aren’t appreciated in America.

I have been selected to be among the first participants in the Sankofa Quest, so your investment will not only help me, but it will also benefit the program’s longevity. I will be visiting many historical places and making connections with local musical artist in Ghana. I can guarantee my experiences will not only change my life, but will also directly impact the lives of my followers, fans, family and friends, and encourage others to get back to their cultural roots. I would be soooo thankful for any help!!!

My flight will leave December 16, 2017 and I will return January 8, 2018.
