Send Sister Sylvia to Hawaii

Help us fund the surprise of a lifetime.

I am fortunate to know Sister Sylvia Llrena. For the last several years she has volunteered twice a week at SafeHouse-- transitional housing for women leaving sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. She always comes to SafeHouse with the biggest smile and kindest attitude. She lends a hand with anything we need from tutoring to envelope stuffing-- Sister Sylvia does it all with a generous heart. She has supported me and our team through difficult days and her presence is a bright spot in our world.

Sister Sylvia doesn't just volunteer at SafeHouse-- she also teaches elementary school, English as a second language, and gets up before the sun to provide breakfast and support to day laborers. She gives so much to our community every day and never expects a thank you or asks for anything in return.

Now it is our turn to come together and give back. A year or two ago, Sister Sylvia shared with me that it is her life dream to see Hawaii. This stuck with me, and for awhile our staff has been talking about how to help her make this dream reality. As a nun, Sister Sylvia does not have income and while her basic needs are provided for she will never be able to afford a vacation like this. She can accept the gift of a trip, though. I know our community can share the cost of sending this amazing woman on a vacation she will never forget. She deserves it, even though she might never admit it.

By donating to this campaign you will contribute to funding a weeklong trip for Sister Sylvia and a guest of her choice. Our goal is to raise money for plane tickets, lodging, food and a few fun activities (she really wants to try snorkeling).
