Scorch is the competitive club team within the Women’s Ultimate Frisbee program at the University of Arizona. The team travels to eight out-of-state tournaments over the course of the academic year and represents the University of Arizona in collegiate DI competitions. However as a club sport, the Women’s Ultimate program has to fundraise the money that they hope to use during the season in order to get to these tournaments. An average tournament costs the team somewhere between $1,500 and $2,000.
Scorch played in their first in-season tournament (Santa Barbara Qualifier) last weekend and won the entire qualifying tournament with a 6-0 game record! Their incredibly hard work earned them a bid to the Santa Barbara Invitational tournament on January 27-28, where they hope to play against some of the most competitive women’s teams in the Southwest region. Participating in this tournament will help Scorch prepare for its goal of winning the College Conference Championship in April, which will qualify them to play in the DI College Regional Championship in May.
The only thing standing between Scorch and Santa Barbara Invitational is the cost of getting there. We are reaching out to our friends, family, and anyone who is committed to supporting women in athletics to ask for help in getting us to this tournament! Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will not only assist us in accomplishing this season’s goals, but will provide an opportunity for Scorch to strengthen Arizona women’s ultimate for the long-term.
Thank you!
