Send Nepal Girl to Harvard/MIT summer program

Donation protected
Hello everyone! I can’t believe how quickly we reached our goal!! Thank you to so many generous donors! But why end now! We are stretching to a new goal - if we get to $7,500 - we can fund another scholarship for an additional attendee. There are applicants from 25 countries around the word who need support - help me send another person!

Please give what you can.

Thank you!

And here’s the original campaign below:

Hello! My name is Dylan Siegel. When I was six years old, I wrote a book called CHOCOLATE BAR so I could raise enough money to cure my friend’s rare genetic disease.

Since then, my book has raised about 1.5 million dollars, 100% of which went toward researching a cure.

I’m proud to say great strides have been made toward finding the cure and the first part of this complicated disease is in clinical trials. The inevitable cure will save the lives of countless kids globally and hopefully, end this disease forever. I did not know it at the time, but at 6 years old I had started a social impact campaign to change the world.

Supporting this cause through public speaking and fundraising made me really interested in helping people on an even larger scale.

So, I decided I really want to learn more about creating social impact businesses that make a difference.

Here's my plan:
I turn 13 in July and my Bar Mitzvah is a few weeks later. For my Mitzvah project, I want to do something that will have a lasting impact. With your help, I would like to send me and an incredible teenager from Nepal to a summer program at Harvard and MIT that can change her life and the lives of many others.

Here are the details:
We have been accepted to the 2019 FutureHack Global Innovators Bootcamp in Boston, MA this July. FutureHack “develops self-motivated leaders, capable of identifying and solving the global challenges of tomorrow.” Here's a video of the program:

Nearly half of all students who attend receive scholarships and so I've decided to raise money for myself and an underprivileged teen from Nepal to attend with me.

Meet 17 year old Diwa from Kathmandu, Nepal.
Diwa is already a very accomplished young person in her city. As founder of the World Youth Alliance’s Nepal chapter, her mission is to “help Nepalese youth learn about their rights and human dignity.”

She is very advanced in her schooling and an early college admissions student studying general science with an “interest in Social Entrepreneurship.”

What We Will Learn at FutureHack.
At FutureHack we will learn from the professors of top universities like MIT, Harvard, Tufts, and different respected speakers and mentors. We will have the opportunity to bring our ideas to life. Based on MIT's curriculum, FutureHack will prepare us to tackle the world’s challenges through entrepreneurship. We will learn how to be creative, thoughtful and capable leaders.

What your funds provide.
The cost of the program for two is $10,000 which includes room and board, meals, transportation from the dorms to classes at MIT and Harvard, and the class instruction.  But, we only NEED TO RAISE $5,000 for both of us to attend. The program scholarship will cover the difference!

Next steps.
This is the next step on my life journey to make a difference in the world and I'd be honored and delighted to share this experience with a like-minded partner like Diwa. My Mitzvah project will provide us both with the education and experience to build more programs and businesses with the goal of helping people around the world.

Please please help make this dream a reality for both of us and give what you can to help me reach my goal.

 Thank you,

 Dylan
