Create Whatever Causes a Revoution in Your Heart

KitSC here. Humbly coming before the crowdsourcing fairies for the 1st time asking for your support because I just landed my 1st ever artist residency which just so happens to be at the Arteles Freedom for Creative Center in picturesque Hämeenkyrö, Finland.
How did I wind up here?
For years and years I ran myself ragged attempting to be for others what I either thought they wanted me to be or what society deemed. Trying to be who I simply was not made me absolutely miserable (as it will make anyone who also attempts this "feat"--so please kids DO NOT try this at home). Then, three years ago I set out on an adventure to find my ikigai (a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being") by taking a 600 mile walking pilgrimage across Spain.
On that often grueling and blister inducing journey (we're talking interdigital blisters and blisters on blisters here--OUCH), I discovered something deeply buried in the avalanche of grossly misplaced expectations...my artistic calling. Everyday on that pilgrimage I sat down and performed a meditational line drawing centered around birdsong. When I returned home, I quickly set out to integrate the sketches into large scale paintings and soon thereafter was invited to have a solo show at a local establishment here in Portland, OR.
Then I worked liked the dickens for the next two years steadily exhibiting my works and even had my work on-set of Hulu's 2018 groundbreaking series 'Shrill'.
However, during all of that exciting hustle I still felt (and feel) this internal need to go deeper, to get silent and listen, to create something more expansive, something spacious. But because that's so amorphous and foggy I really need some clarity on what that is.
Enter Arteles and their wonderful Silence Awareness residency program-- in their words " a residency program for artists, researchers and creative professionals, wanting to retreat into silence in nature. The program brings together a group of artists attuned to the theme to share a focused and mindful residency in the middle of the Nordic winter." So, in less than 2 months I will hop a flight to Finland to embark on this new leg of my artistic path and in the new 2020 decade no less. I'm so very excited to see what this new direction will bring, but I need your help!
While Arteles has graciously provided me a grant for 40% of the associated fees, I still have traveling expenses, needs for items that will ensure my warmth in the Nordic elements, the remainder of the residency fee and most importantly material costs for creating meaningful works of art that I want to share with you and the world at large.
Your contribution guarantees this opportunity worry free and plays a part in my personal art history.

With all that goes on in the world today: the constant stream of upsetting news, the instability of our global economy, the fractured institutions, the continued destruction of our planet, and the godawful, incessant, interstitial ads trying to convince us the answer is buying more stuff...there's just so much NOISE.
This is why your contribution cuts through the noise and helps me do my job as an artist interpolating the silence we all so desperately need into works of art. I truly need your contribution to help my artistic practice flourish and to see this opportunity through.
