Who Are We?
We are a team of 5th, & 6th graders from the Forest Hills School district in Grand Rapids, Michigan who compete together in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge.
What is FIRST LEGO League?
FIRST LEGO League is a STEM based challenge that is composed of 3 elements; the first is a research project to try and solve a real-world problem, the second is to design, build, and program a robot using LEGO Mindstorms, and finally to exemplify teamwork and FLL Core Values in all that we do.
In 2017 over 33,000 teams from 88 countries competed in the FIRST LEGO League Hydro Dynamics Challenge. Over 400 teams competed in our state alone.
Why are we fundraising?
In our team's second year of competition we were awarded 1st place in Teamwork and 1st place in Robot Performance at our regional tournament in Grandville, MI. This led to a 2nd place overall finish and an invitation to compete at the Michigan State Championship Tournament in Allendale, MI. After an amazing day of competition team Hey, Watch This! walked away with the 1st Place Championship award and an invitation to compete at the FIRST Worlds Festival in Detroit, MI in April 2018. This is an amazing achievement as out of those 33,000 teams, only the best 216 teams get to compete at the World Festival.
Our goal is to raise $8,000 to offset the costs of preparing for and attending the 3 day tournament. Your support means a lot. It will help us with our team travel expenses, accommodation, food, and tournament fees. This is an amazing opportunity for our team to compete with not only some of the best teams in the country, but from around the world.
Any additional money raised will go towards funding our team as we compete in the next FIRST LEGO League season starting September 2018.
