Send Emily to International Blind Golf Tournament

Hi Everyone!

My name is Kelly and I have created this GoFundMe for my amazing friend Emily who is blind and raising money to compete in international golf tournaments. In her own words, she shares her story below.

My name is Emily and I am a completely blind working single mom who has the opportunity to compete in the upcoming International Blind Golf Spanish Open 2024. Competing countries include USA, Canada, Austria, Germany, Spain, Ireland, UK, and more. I will be representing Sweden.

Last October I came into contact with a blind golf project in Sweden, and this has been ridiculously fun yet challenging. After 20 years, I am swinging a golf club again and actually hitting the ball!

After losing my vision almost 10 years ago, I didn't think I would get to this point. I dreamed of playing golf again and knew it could be possible with the right assistance. Four years ago the Swedish municipality where I live took away all support for blind people. Despite this, I have created a happy and safe home for me and my child to thrive in. Being blind and competing again in a sport like golf brings me such joy and happiness because I am pushing boundaries.

I love being out there and challenging beliefs.

I am raising money to compete in 2 tournaments and purchase the equipment I need. For me to play, I need a special caddy and a sight guide with me. Some of the costs are covered by the organizers, but due to my financial contraints we created this GoFundMe page to cover expenses for:
