Hi friends, family, acquaintances and to those that are just curious what this is all about. I am setting up this Go Fund Me Account in honor of my dad, Chris Loukas who is wanting to live out a life long dream of his and take a trip to Greece (his parents homeland).
A little Bio:
Chris was born in New York, October 9, 1930 in the heart of the big depression. His parents migrated to America in the 1920's from Greece. He is one of 7 siblings born in 9 years. His mother died when he was 6 years old. He was adopted by an Aunt and Uncle, who were also his Godmother and Godfather. He was a Marine at 17 years old and served in the Korean war, between 1948 and 1952, earning an Honorable Discharge, as a Sergeant.
Chris lives in Sonoma County, he has 4 wonderful children (hee hee) and 5 grandchildren.
In 1995 he was badly injured in a head on collision that nearly took his life and while in a coma during a 6 week period, the doctors asked permission from my mother on two occasions to disconnect the life support stating, "he is not responding" and she said, "NO, he is still in his body". With much spiritual healing, love, forgiveness and medical help, my father is still here today and healthy. He wasn't going to leave this planet before getting the chance to visit Greece. He made headlines in the local county newspaper twice, about the power of forgiveness and unconditional love. He is an amazing man!
Chris owned a business (The Crystal People) in Sebastopol, CA over a total period of 25 years, selling crystals, gems and minerals and did hundreds of energy healing's, in person and long distance. The shop remained open until my mother (Dian Loukas) was too ill to assist in its operation and we closed the shop in 2011. Dian made her transition May, 2017 as a result of a malignant brain tumor that she suffered with for 11 years. It has been mother's dream to send him to Greece but it never materialized in her lifetime. Dad is now widowed.
He is retired and on a very limited social security income which is barely enough for him to pay living expenses, yet alone allow funds to vacation with. The plan is for him to go to Greece in April 2019 for a three to four week period.
Chris is 100% Greek, having learned to read, write, speak and cook Greek. He had a formal elementary schooling in which half of the day was taught in Greek and the remaining in English. All this between the ages of 7 to 14 in New York. I often hear Greek music coming from his place and yet, he has never been to Greece...
