Send Chopin's 8th graders to D.C.!

Frederic Chopin Elementary School is a PreK-8th grade Title I Fine and Performing Arts Magnet School in Chicago, IL. Our school has the opportunity to send our 8th-grade students on a 4-day educational trip to Washington D.C. During this trip, students will see: the World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, National Mall, Tidal Basin, Washington Monument, The White House, Mount Vernon, U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, Smithsonian, National Museum of American History, National Portrait Gallery, and the National Archives. This trip is non-partisan. Past trip attendees have reported forming friendships with other students nationwide that have lasted well into adulthood!

Chopin is located in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood of Chicago. Our students are predominantly African-American or Hispanic, and we have welcomed several refugee families to our school this year. 1/3 of our students are English Language Learners, and approximately 95% are from low-income areas. Our school strives to provide unique opportunities to explore and learn in and out of the classroom. 8th-grade families will pay an out-of-pocket cost for their students to attend this trip, but we are hoping to raise enough funds to reduce the cost to each family that needs financial support.
