How Big Apple Playback Can Make a Unique Contribution to the International Playback Theatre Conference this year in India:
This year, the theme for the International Playback Theatre Conference is ‘Celebrating Diversity. Encouraging Diversity’. And Big Apple Playback is uniquely positioned to contribute to the conversation. From the heart of New York City, Big Apple is one of the most diverse playback theater companies on the planet and our mission is totally aligned with the mission of the Festival.
Worldwide, diversity is being threatened with narrow parochial view points gaining ground. The me-first or my community-first approach, runs counter to the Playback narrative of an inclusive, empathic and a ‘we’ world where we are connected by our stories.
Our Goal
Send at least 4 of our company members to India in December 2019 to participate in the Conference, covering their room, board, air-fare, admission and our admission to facilitate a workshop.
We're asking a lot because it takes alot to get a company of people half-way across the world...
What Your Contribution Covers
A one-way ticket to India costs between $400 and $800 and, given the holiday season, prices vary widely.
One contribution of approximately $1400 will cover the cost of airfare for one of our actors.
A contribution of $255 covers the early bird registration fee for someone on our team.
A contribution of $40 covers the cost of three meals and a hotel room for one actor, for an entire day.
We are looking for 18 additional contributions of $500 or more and, we understand that not everyone is in a position to give that amount.
Please support Big Apple in sending as many of our people as we can to India this year for the Conference.
