Sem's medical fund.

Hello, my name is David, and my wife’s name is Sem.  We have been married since 2010.

My wife, and I have been trying to conceive naturally since we got married.

During our fertility journey, my wife has suffered 10 miscarriages and gone through a number of fertility related surgeries.

With advice from our doctors, we came to California to start our IVF process in order for a gestational surrogate to carry our child or children to term.

We were just barely able to afford the IVF, surrogacy and medical insurance cost by cashing in savings, and taking out a loan to cover the difference. 

With the help of a surrogacy agency, we found a very generous surrogate to go through this journey with us.

Once we were prepared, we came to California and had a successful IVF cycle and egg retrieval.   We ended up with viable embryos.  We decided that we want two children of our own and that we want to donate any extra embryos to families who have had their own trials.

Immediately following the egg retrieval, Sem experienced life-threatening complications (both kidneys failed and Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome) and was hospitalized over a period of 14 days at both the Hoag and Beverly hospitals.  Thankfully the amazing nurses and doctors at the hospitals were able to save my wife's life both times.

What we need the money for: Hospital bills for Emergency Medical Expenses

Per advice from our doctors, we did our due dilligence and purchased additional health insurance, travelers insurance and we had insurance through our credit card as well.

The insurance companies are refusing to cover the emergency medical expenses.

The total amount of money is still not fully known.

Currently we have the general hospital bills which are approximately $54,000.  We are waiting on the billing from the specialists and we have some ongoing medical visits including prescriptions and labs.

For the hospital and specialist bills we have been told we need to settle the amounts within 30 days.  So that means we need to settle by the second week of September, 2017.

Sem and I would apprecciate any assistance you can provide, whether you give us your coffee change or some good advice.

We have been going through our fertility journey for a very long time and we don't want anyone to struggle the way did.
