Selina was feeling sick the weekend just before the Christmas holiday. Her symptoms seemed like any other normal cold or flu. In less than 48 hours it worsened and she was rushed to the hospital. On Christmas Eve they moved her to Children's Hospital where she is fighting for her life and her family is praying for a miracle. She is currently in a coma and her brain has been unresponsive. This is all caused by the H1N1 flu virus, and Selina did not get the flu vaccination this year. We are collecting funds for Selena's family to help with their costs. Her mother says that any funds that they do not need to use specifically for her daughter will be donated to charity, because that is what Selina would have wanted. Her mother lovingly describes her as a loving, kind hearted and giving child. We ask that you please join her family in praying for a miracle.
Over 600 people have been hospitalized with the flu in Colorado so far this flu season. The family would also like to spread awareness of where other families can get their children vaccinated. Shots for Tots and Teens is a no cost or low cost provider. The program offers low- and no-cost Saturday immunization clinics throughout the year in Aurora, Denver and Arvada with the help of experienced immunization nurses, fire medics, paramedics, health care and community volunteers. Each clinic also offers fun activities and prizes for kids, including fire engine and ambulance tours!
