Many people are not unknown to hearing about the largest Atlantic Hurricane ever to develop off the coast of Africa. Her name is Irma and she has devastated many islands, included St.John where I once called home from 2007-2012.
I went down to serve in the community known as "love city" in September and was in both Irma and Maria when it hit. I was eventually later evacuated by friends from the Kenny Chesney Organization currently doing first response work to rebuild the island.
St.John and St.Thomas knows me well for bringing therapeutic massage and yoga, meditation, workshops with guests, retreats and energy work to many to benefit the body, mind and heart.
It is my intent that even though I am currently back in NYC doing healing around my own experience, to give back. In doing so, I created this fund support the SELF-CARE part that is being lost in order to keep the energy of the rebuild in full force.
As someone who was there for a month, I saw and felt how we all tirelessly worked day in and day out. From cleaning up in the streets and homes, leaning in to simple listen to people's personal stories and even offering massages by donation to do what I could to create some safe space to process this recent event.
So far, I have created FREE live meditations for the people who are stateside to jump on a call for 45 minutes to not only learn about how to holistically process trauma but give the group a guided meditation to rest better at night while resetting their nervous systems.
And just by offering this, I have to tell you, friends have already been reaching out to DONATE because they have seen how driven I am to bring my motherly angel wing to take care of thousands.
It is NOW with a humble request that I am now seeking funding to GIVE BACK on a grander scale even though I cannot be on island yet to give directly, however, there still a few healers there that I can reach out to give back where they can.
It is my intent to go back in the new year, if not sooner depending on how much I can raise and even bring a small team of healers with me to serve in the community and support the missing component that needed to keep one's energy up.
As a way to know where your money goes, I will even be starting a PTSC (Post Trauma Self-Care FUND) facebook group so you can stay up to date, ask questions about updates on the island or the upcoming plans we have to take full ACTION.
The truth is, I cannot do this alone and have finally realized that if I don't lean in to YOU that this will never be a reality.
