Support Selena's Medical Mission in Honduras
Donation protected
When I first went to Honduras, I thought I was going to help. I didn’t expect to find home there, and even though I live in Cleveland now, a piece of my heart is still there.
My name is Selena, and I’m an osteopathic medical student at OU-HCOM with a heart for healing, listening, and walking with people through some of the hardest parts of their stories. I recently graduated from John Carroll University and have been a part of the non-profit organization For the Greater Good that also works to provide direct support for the people of Honduras.
This June, I’m returning to rural Honduras to work in mobile clinics, care for underserved communities, and carry out a project that means everything to me. It is rooted in something I believe deeply: storytelling is medicine too.
This will be my third time back through Sociedad Amigos de los Niños (SAN). In 2022, I co-led a medical mission trip there and returned the summer before starting medical school. Each time, I left with more love in my heart for the people I met and more fire in my soul to serve. I promised I would come back. Now, I get to keep that promise.
I have met families who walked for miles just to be seen. I have sat beside women who shared stories of survival and strength that left me changed. One of them looked me in the eyes and said, “Thank you for being here. It makes me feel less alone.” I have carried that moment with me every single day since.
This trip is not just about providing care. It is about presence. It is about dignity. It is about showing up again and again, even when no one is watching.
If you are able to support, thank you. I am raising funds to help cover travel, medical supplies to donate, and the cost of staying on the ground during the month of June, 2025. And if you cannot give, sharing this or simply sending love and prayers is just as meaningful.
Thank you for helping me keep my promise.
With all my heart,
Selena Alamir
