"SELAH" the short film

Hi !

My name is Marie Lassi, I'm 22 and I'm a French screenwriter and director. After graduating my Bachelor of Arts at La Sorbonne in Paris, I studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. Now, I'm trying to settle myself in Brooklyn, NY.

SELAH is my first "professional" project. It's a FAITH-based film about a 17 year-old girl. She has everything she could ask for. But it’s not enough. It’s not when you lack something that nothing can buy : joy and peace. She will fall into a deep abyss of depression, pain and sadness. She will find herself into an infernal spiral with no exits. Until one day, she will have the choice to go through it, to fight back and win the battle. She will have the choice between Good and Evil.

The short film is actually a prototype that I'll need to submit to a big production company in order to be produced the feature film. This fundraiser will help to make it happen because it's a project that is very important me. It's a film that I think will help a lot of people, who would be able to relate to the main character. The fundraiser will also help in paying the crew, the location bookings and the meals provided. It will be filmed in BROOKLYN, NY.

Je m’appelle Marie Lassi, j’ai 22 ans et je suis une scénariste et réalisatrice française. Après avoir obtenu ma Licence en Cinéma et Audiovisuel à La Sorbonne à Paris, j’ai étudié le cinéma à la New York Film Academy. Depuis,, j’essaie de m’installer à Brooklyn.

SELAH est mon premier projet « professionnel ». C’est un film basé sur la foi chrétienne, mettant en scène une jeune fille de 17 ans. Elle a tout ce dont elle a besoin. Mais ce n’est pas suffisant. Ça ne l'est pas lorsqu'on manque de quelque chose que rien ne peut acheter : la joie et la paix. Elle tombera dans un profond abîme de dépression, de douleur et de tristesse. Elle se retrouvera dans une spirale infernale sans issue. Jusqu’au jour où, elle aura le choix de traverser, de se battre et de gagner la bataille. Elle aura le choix entre le bien et le mal.

Le court métrage est en fait un prototype que je devrais soumettre à une grande société de production afin que le long métrage soit produit. Cette collecte de fonds aidera à le réaliser parce que c’est un projet qui m’est très important. C’est un film qui, je pense, aidera beaucoup de gens, qui seraient capables de s’identifier au personnage principal. La collecte de fonds aidera également à payer l’équipe, les réservations de lieux de tournage et les repas. Il sera filmé à BROOKLYN, NY.
