Seend Tennis Club- refurbish our tennis courts!

Donation protected
We are a small community tennis club in Wiltshire, approaching our 100th year!

As an important community asset for Seend and the surrounding villages, we are currently fundraising to renovate the surface of our two courts which are in urgent need of repair. The courts were last resurfaced in 1998 and although they have been well maintained by volunteers, with the life expectancy of a court being approximately 15 years, the surface is now beginning to break up and the perimeter fence is collapsing in several places.

Our c.100 members live in Seend and surrounding villages including Marston, Worton, Poulshot and in Melksham. Members of the club are from a variety of backgrounds and have the common bond of playing tennis together, building a community spirit. There is weekly social tennis for adults of any age and ability and we also enter county league tennis matches for men and mixed teams every year for people who want a more competitive game. In April 2023, we engaged with Seend Church of England Primary School and organised group coaching sessions for Year 6 for a term. It has been hugely successful and so the school wants to not only continue this activity, but to double the number of pupils involved. There really is something for everyone locally at the Tennis Club.

We have set ourselves 3 targets:
1/ complete resurfacing and repainting of the courts and fixing the fence- £37k
2/ replacing the hut and introducing proper access to the court - £8.3k
3/ installing a security gate - £5.5k

The tennis courts are obviously a hugely valuable asset for both the school and communities of Seend and surrounding villages. Renovating and maintaining this facility is of the utmost importance to the both the children and adults of our community so please give a donation to help us reach our goal. We need to resurface the courts for the new season in April and we although we have already secured some funding, we still need more!

Help us preserve this wonderful local asset for another generation (and hopefully another 100 years!).
