Seeds of Faith Community Garden
Tax deductible
The right to food is a human right declared and recognized by international law. However, this right is still not afforded to many living in Sunny South Dallas, Texas, and the food insecurity range is between 17-20%. By faith, three churches - Greater Garth Chapel AME, Northway Christian Church, and Warren Avenue Christian Church - have come together to illustrate how churches and places of worship can collectively offer solutions to solving social injustices. We are collaboratively seeking to provide a solution to food insecurity and health inequity in South Dallas through the manifestation of a community garden.
The Seeds of Faith Community Garden, located on the property of Greater Garth Chapel AME, seeks to be a food oasis in South Dallas, where food apartheid exists. The garden will grow food to:
- complement the meals provided in the Faithful Fridays Community Meal Ministry
- share with neighbors in the community
- provide community education and awareness about the food system
- make a positive impact on the health outcome of the community
This is more than food; this is a movement to reclaim health.
The funds raised here will directly benefit the Seeds of Faith Community Garden by providing for:
- the purchase of a 20' x 8' on-site shipping container to be used as storage
- delivery and placement of shipping container on cement pad
- tools, pesticide ingredients, and fertilizers needed to maintain the garden
The sun shines brightly in Sunny South Dallas! This endeavor would be impossible without the collective help of many volunteers willing to step in and support it. By faith, The Seeds of Faith Community Garden will improve the quality of life and health for many living in South Dallas.
Come grow with us!
