Fellow SE enthusiasts and supporters; we need your help.

Do you want to be a better ally to Black, Indigenous and People of Color?

This is your opportunity to step up and contribute to a scholarship to create a more diverse and inclusive Somatic Experiencing™ (SE) community. Being an ally means moving out of your comfort zone and taking a stand to support an underrepresented population.

We are a group of Somatic Experiencing Practitioners (SEPs) who are establishing a BIPOC scholarship fund for the upcoming Vancouver 2021 SE Professional Training starting May 2021. We are seeking your support to help us reach our funding goal.

Our aim is to raise $20,000 to support SE students who identify as BIPOC and who require financial support to attend the training. 100% of money raised will go towards tuition. A committee of BIPOC representatives will review the scholarship applications.

Our challenge to you is to think big…what can you contribute? A day of session fees? A half day? An hour? Contributions of any amount are welcome.

We believe that diversity and inclusion are important in the SE community. Why? Because research shows that trust, safety, and connection in the therapeutic relationship are more easily established for Black, Indigenous and People of Color when the therapist shares their cultural and/or ethnic background. And because we all have something to gain from being part of a more diverse community.

Your support means a BIPOC client who has been underserved because the service has not felt culturally relevant, or because racism thwarted their attempts at healing will have a better chance of connecting with culturally appropriate therapeutic services. And SE students and professionals from all walks of life will have an opportunity for increasing their cultural competence. Given the current social and political climate of overt racism across North America, this feels more important than ever.

SE is currently taught and used by health and social professionals in over 40 countries in the world. As SEP’s, we believe in the power and effectiveness of Somatic Experiencing™ to support trauma healing regardless of race or ethnicity.

Thanks for stepping up to be part of the solution!
