SECURING THE FUTURE FOR AUSTRALIAN NATIVE WILDLIFE

Donation protected
Established in 1977, the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary has been a refuge for injured, orphaned, and surrendered native wildlife for close to 50 years. The sanctuary currently provides care for a wide variety of native animals, including kangaroos, wallabies, emus and other bird species, possums, gliders, reptiles and even three rescued dingoes.

The sanctuary is run entirely by volunteers and relies on fundraising initiatives, along with the generous support of local businesses and individuals. Unfortunately, the sanctuary receives no government support. Demand for native wildlife rescue and care services continues to increase and there is a desperate shortage of professional facilities like the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary to be able to assist wildlife in need, especially during times of crisis such as bushfires and floods.

In recent times, fundraising has become increasingly more challenging and costs have sky-rocketed, putting extreme strain on the sanctuary's limited resources and ability to provide the essential care our native wildlife deserves.

Our dedicated team of volunteers is putting a call out to try and muster support to secure the sanctuary’s future and continue its legacy of wildlife care.

Here’s how your donation can support us:

$10 - Feeds Squid, our rescued squirrel glider for a week.
$20 - Feeds Peggy and Juniper, our rescued ringtail possums for a week.
$30 - Feeds Monty, our surrendered lace monitor for two weeks.
$40 - Feeds our four rescued kookaburras for a week.
$50 - Buys two bags of pellets to feed our rescued kangaroos and emus for a week.
$100 - Feeds our three surrendered dingoes, Lueka, Nioka and Willow for a week.
$150 - Pays our water bill for two weeks.
$500 - Pays our insurance premium for one month.
$1000 - Covers our total animal food bill for one month.
$5000 - Allows us to renovate and complete our environmental education centre on site.
$10,000 - Builds a new specialised wombat rehabilitation enclosure.
$25,000 - Purchases an All-Terrain Work Vehicle for our volunteers to use daily.
$50,000 - Builds two new spacious aviaries to rehabilitate birds, possums and bats.
$100,000 - Allows us to fully replace our 40-year-old perimeter fencing and protect our animals in care from foxes and feral cats.
$250,000 - Allows us to establish a ‘Natural Disaster Emergency Response Unit’ including a vehicle and trailer, fitted out to assist native wildlife during bushfires and floods.

What Your Contribution Supports:

Upgrading Facilities: The current perimeter fence, standing for over 40 years, requires urgent replacement. Your donation will go towards constructing new, secure fences to safeguard our wildlife in care.

Building New Enclosures and Purchasing Equipment: With your help, we aim to construct modern rehabilitation enclosures, specifically tailored to a wide variety of wildlife species. We also hope to purchase an All-Terrain Vehicle to support our volunteers with the strenuous daily jobs around the sanctuary which they currently do by hand.

Covering Operational Costs: Daily operational expenses are mounting, from feeding and caring for our diverse array of animals to maintaining facilities. Your support will contribute directly to these essential costs.

Every dollar you donate will have a tangible impact on the well-being of our native wildlife and the future of the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. By supporting us, you're investing in the preservation of local biodiversity and ensuring that our sanctuary remains a beacon of hope for years to come.
