Scrambler Therapy in Germany for my CRPS

Donation protected

Hello my name is Karen and I suffer severely from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome after an horrendous motorbike accident in which I received life-changing injuries. I was critically ill for a long time and am now physically disabled. I was riding pillion on my fiancé's BMW100RR motorbike when an a 17yr old with no driving licence T-boned our motorbike at speed. I was thrown 70 feet in the air, smashed through a glass bus stop, and landed face down in a ditch. My fiance was also thrown from the bike and landed right on top of me. He died on top of me because he broke his neck during the impact.

I went from being a very active, adventurous, hard-working girl to a girl who can only walk a few feet with the aid of crutches, who lives with severe chronic pain 24hrs round the clock. I have been housebound since my accident and suffered a brain injury which severely affects my short-term memory.

Because of the severe complexity of my conditions I have not been able to work since my accident. I have been through 13 operations on my left leg and left arm and have been told by UK doctors that they cannot find a thing further to try and help my severe pain and immobility.

As well as not being able to walk more than a few feet with the aid of two crutches, I suffer from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Insomnia. All of these severe conditions are a result of my traumatic accident.

I cannot put fully into words the physical and mental torture that I go through every single day of my life. Life is extremely challenging. I have lost my freedom of being able to get out and about and live a normal, fulfilled life. I live life within 4 walls because my pain limits me in every way imagineable. My leg amd arm swell up double their normal size during flares. I have 80% nerve damage across my body.

I have lost most of my friends because my pain has taken away my ability to socialise.

I have started this fundraiser to hopefully raise enough money for me to travel to Germany and receive a life-changing treatment for people who suffer severely from CRPS called Scrambler Therapy, also known as Calmare Therapy. If I can raise enough money to get this treatment my CRPS can go into remission and I will finally have a chance of getting my life back. To not be in pain would be like me winning the lottery. I cannot even remember what not being in pain feels like. Every mi ute of every day is excrutiating and really gets me down. I feel like I have no life.

The brain’s reaction to chronic pain can be compared to learning to play the piano or memorising a poem − the more the body “practices” processing pain, the stronger the connections between pain nerves and the brain become.

When someone is injured, the brain sets up a process to heal the injury. For example, cells carry away dead tissue or it increases blood flow to the area. Eventually, the brain realizes the injury has healed and it cuts off the pain message.

But for some people, like me, the brain never sends that pivotal message saying “there’s no more injury here so you can stop the pain signal.” That’s where the Calmare scrambler device comes in.

How does scrambler therapy work?
The MC-5A Calmare scrambler therapy medical device provides pain management by using mild, rapidly changing electrical impulses to send a “no-pain” message along the same pain fibers currently emitting the “pain” message to the brain.

This repeating process changes the message to the brain from “pain” to “no pain.”

Essentially, the scrambler machine overrides the brain’s 'pain' message and corrects it to a 'no pain' message.

Treatment takes place every day for 10 days in a row. A second block of 10 days may be required. This won't be known until treatment is being administered.

In about 75 percent of all Scrambler Therapy (also known as Calmare Therapy) cases, the patient experiences a significantly reduced pain level by the end of the treatment cycle or is pain-free (0/10 on the pain scale.) I currently live at a score of 10/10, 24rs a day.

I need to raise enough funds to get myself to the clinic in Germany, and have enough funds to cover two rounds of treatment. I also have to pay for my own accommodation and travel to the clinic each day.

Thank you so so much if you are still reading this and are able to help me with this life changing treatment.

Please, please help me get the chance of living my life again.
