Scott's Medical Fund

Scott DeMent has been a dear friend of mine for more than twenty years.  We went to New York Chiropractic College together and stayed close friends after graduation.  He was recently diagnosed with a Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma- Mantel Cell Disease earlier this year.

He had a lot of testing to figure out a specific diagnosis, and was not given a very good prognosis by a oncologist.  He decided to try naturopathic treatments for this disease and these had early benefit, but his most recent blood work showed that the treatments he was using are no longer having a positive effect, so he is going to start chemotherapy in the next week or so.

He and his wife, Mel, have been paying out of pocket so far for his treatment, since it was not covered by insurance.  His medical insurance has a very high deductible and will only cover a portion of his treatment.  Once he starts chemotherapy, he will likely not be able to work and this will put a great strain on his family's budget.

Scott is one of those rare people you meet in life who makes a huge impact on everything you do; he's a brother from a different mother to me.  I met him my first week of graduate/professional school and we eventually became roomates.   We had many conversations over the years about helping people and life in general, and he's always been a strong influence on me, and I believe his friendship has made me a better person.

While we were in school, he didn't just work hard to be a great future chiropractor, he worked at night after class and every weekend at a local diner so that he could provide for his two daughters (they're both adults now and from what he's told me, exceptional women).

I had the opportunity to spend time with him in Tucson recently, and observed what a special person he is, as far as the energy and love he gives to everything he does in life, both in his professional practice and his family life.  He's an inspiration to me.  Scott has two younger children, Keven and Tayla, and they're both really special kids; I enjoyed getting to know them while I was visiting.

Please consider making a financial donation to help with Scott's medical costs, and pray for him and his family!
